Cheli’s Chili Bar in Clinton Township is a franchise location of the popular restaurant and sports bar chain owned by Detroit Red Wing hockey player Chris Chelios. The restaurant is located on Hayes Road between 18 and 19 mile roads in Clinton Township, north of Detroit.
As expected, the restaurant’s two spacious dining rooms and lounge are adorned with various Red Wings and sports memorbilia, including photos of the Red Wings after winning the Stanley Cup and Chelios’s jerseys.
The menu features more than typical sports bar food. The chili is tasty, hearty and topped with slices of jalapeno pepper, a sprinkling of shredded cheese and a dollop of sour cream. The menu also features salads, burgers, sandwiches, pastas, steak and gourmet thin curst pizzas.
The appetizers are also good, including the chicken balls which can be tossed in your choice of sauce. There are 12 sauces to choose from, and all sauces are made fresh at the restaurant.
All the dishes are made with care and with fresh ingredients, even the dressings, sauces and chili.
The restaurant also has a dessert menu with several choices, and a drink menu featuring 16 beers on tap, a selection of wine and a list of flavored martinis.
It’s a fun atmosphere to dine with friends or family, drink a few brewskis and play darts or one other arcade-style games, or to watch the big game on one of the 35 42-inch flat screen TVs.
There also is live musical entertainment sometimes on the weekend, and there will be an outdoor tent for additional seating during the Red Wings strive toward the Stanley Cup!
The bar has happy hour specials including $2 domestic beers and 35 cent wings during home Detroit Red Wings, Tigers, Lions and Pistons games and college tournaments.
