The Bucket List

We've read these in books, and we've seen them in movies. In fact, there was a whole movie about this list of wishes and dreams, goals and must-achieves.

It's called a Bucket List.

It's the list of all the people you want to meet, the foods you want to eat, the places you want to visit and the goals you want to achieve before you kick the bucket.

Recently, I wondered if I was too young to start my own bucket list. I decided life is too short and too unpredictable to put off this task. So, I sat down last night with a notebook and pen, and I started my list.

Eat Sushi. Learn Italian. Write a song with Taylor Swift. Live in London. Host a foreign exchange student. Bungee jump.

At first. I thought mostly of accomplishments and career goals. I want to write a book, earn a Master's degree, work on a presidential campaign, and improve and protect human rights.

Then I realized many of my must-do-before-I-dies fall into the must-see category. Travel has always been important to me, and it is clearly reflected in my bucket list, which includes holding a koala bear in Australia and seeing as many Broadway musicals as possible in New York City.

I'm young and want to live as true to "Carpe Diem" as my life allows, so the bucket list is quite lengthy. And it's growing. Planning has already begun for some items, so that someday in the near future I can cross those items off. Others, on the other hand, may take a decade or two for me to accomplish.

I challenge you to think about your own bucket list, and please, tell me what makes your list by posting a comment to this blog.

Cheers.
